A 92-year-old Holocaust survivor suffered a brutal attack by an unidentified assailant while using a public transportation service.
Reports suggest that Hanka Fogelman, during a trip in a public taxi in Toronto on November 11, 2018, was warned by the driver about the dangerous nature of another passenger. Despite the warning not to engage with the man, the situation escalated during the journey.

Describing the incident, Fogelman revealed that the driver had explicitly cautioned her about the passenger’s aggressive behavior. Moments later, the passenger unleashed a violent attack on her, leaving her with severe injuries.
Upon police arrival, the alleged assailant appeared calm and unaware of the events. Authorities reported that the man, described as mentally handicapped, will not face legal consequences for the assault.
The victim, with a broken nose and extensive facial injuries, was rushed to the hospital. Her daughter, Debbie, expressed shock and frustration over the incident, questioning why her mother was exposed to such danger during her journey.
Laura Watts, an advocate for the elderly, has taken up the case, labeling the attack as a “systemic failure.”
