Best friends Apollo and Adonis were abandoned at an animal shelter in Texas last month. The two dogs were so scared that they huddled in a corner holding onto each other. But when everything was very uncertain and fearful, they at least had each other.
However, the animal shelter they ended up in was of the worst kind – so bad that they euthanize dogs who don’t find new homes.
The future didn’t look very bright for both dogs, but luckily Cindy Droogmans from A-Team Elite Rescue Dogs noticed them before it was too late. She felt a strong bond with the two dogs and decided to rescue them.
Cindy made sure that both Apollo and Adonis could be taken to Huntington, New York. Once they were there, they were examined by a veterinarian and treated for heart failure, which was likely the reason they were abandoned.

When the dogs were healthy again, Cindy began searching for a new home for them. The last thing she wanted to do was separate the two; it would take away the only comfort they had. But finding a home for two dogs is quite difficult.
“A bonded pair is always difficult to place, but look at those two. How could you possibly separate them?” Cindy told The Dodo.

Photos of Apollo and Adonis were shared on Facebook. And a woman, Jennifer, saw them and immediately sent an adoption request.
Along with her husband, Donald, she had already saved two dogs. But she lives on a large property with a huge garden, so she had enough space for them. Apollo and Adonis would be a perfect addition to the family.
A day after Jennifer sent the request, she already received approval.

But then something scary happened. The dogs had just arrived at their new home when Adonis got scared and ran away. With all the changes in his environment, the new people, the visits to the vet, he couldn’t handle the stress anymore – and he ran away.
Adonis’ best friend, Apollo, and his new owners Jennifer and Donald, panicked and the search began.

Hours went by and Jennifer and Cindy started to worry seriously. Would they get Adonis back home, where he would finally be safe? How would his best friend Apollo live without him?
Twenty-four hours later, they found Adonis, unharmed.
“The search team did an amazing job. I was crying and trembling everywhere. He is back with his brother,” Cindy said.

Now Adonis must know that he is safe in his new home. Together with Apollo, they found the love they deserve.
“They are both doing well, and just getting used to their new home. They are very sweethearts and a perfect addition to our family!” Jennifer said.
What a beautiful ending to this story! How lucky they found Adonis too. I am so happy that these two friends have a wonderful new home and that they are together.
