A severely injured dog was brought to the Animal Friends shelter in Ohio, United States.
When the veterinarians took a closer look at their four-legged friend, they realized the animal was severely neglected. That’s according to Mirror.
Lou, the Doberman Pinscher, was two years old. According to Mirror, he had gone a long time without food or proper care. His tongue was severely injured, and when the veterinarians checked his stomach, they were in shock. They found a stone in his stomach.
The dog likely ate the stone to fill his stomach due to lack of real food. The stone is clearly visible in the X-ray below.
The veterinarians did everything they could, but unfortunately Lou could not be saved. The poor dog departed for the eternal hunting grounds. The police are now investigating the case, and his owner was charged with animal abuse.
An anonymous individual had alerted the shelter about the dog’s situation.
“No normal person can find this acceptable. The pictures are particularly hard to look at. But in reality, it’s even worse,” Sheriff Richard Jones told Mirror.
The police chief was grateful that the public had alerted the police. He also spoke highly of the shelter’s work and hoped the dog would find a new home. Unfortunately, that was not the case.
Lou passed away.
The dog’s owner ultimately received a 180-day prison sentence and then an additional 90 days in another prison. There were protests for animal rights in the streets afterward.
Animal abuse is never justifiable, in any way! Lou’s tragic fate proves this. We should never forget these events. Rest in peace, dear Lou.
