It’s crucial to always stay alert to potential dangers when outdoors, such as wild animals and insects. Understanding your surroundings can be a lifesaver in risky situations, as the Cook family in Texas learned.
One morning in 2016 in Texas, Michael Cook, the father of a toddler, received a frightening phone call regarding the preschool his son attended.
2-year-old bitten by venomous snake
Their 2-year-old daughter Kiley was bitten by a venomous snake while playing on the playground with other children in the morning.

Kiley’s hand quickly swelled and turned black after the snake bite.
“Her fingers began to turn black and her entire hand swelled up like a balloon,” her father Michael recounted to ABC 8 News.
The snake responsible for the bite was a Copperhead, known for its venomous nature. Kiley was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment.
Experiencing what their daughter went through is every parent’s nightmare. Michael and Nataly now aim to share their story as a cautionary tale, not only for those living near hazardous snakes but for all parents who allow their children to play outdoors.
“If you reside in an area with potentially dangerous insects and wildlife, always inspect the playground before letting your child play outside,” they advise.
As per American media reports, the preschool staff needed to exercise better supervision over the children, although the incident unfolded rapidly.
Help spread this cautionary tale. Snakes are present in various areas, and children must be kept safe!
