From Heart Transplant to Heartbreak: A Father’s Journey of Loss and Love

What was supposed to be a beautiful love story ended in a true tragedy. Mother’s Day will now be a sad day for the young girl in this story.
Sam Rudland met the love of his life, Amy Watts, in 2012. Together they had a daughter.
Sam had some health problems that he struggled with after being diagnosed with heart issues at the age of 18. Doctors had even told him he would never live past 35 years old.
In 2017, he received the incredible news that he would undergo a heart transplant. That gave Sam a second chance at life, but at the same time, his wife Amy got breast cancer.
After their relationship was unfortunately overshadowed by Sam’s health problems, Amy also became seriously ill. She passed away 48 hours before they were to get married.
Amy was cremated in her wedding dress after she passed away on Mother’s Day.
Sam, who works as an engineer in the English city of Bristol, was diagnosed with Friedreich’s disease, a severe muscle disorder. He was told he would not live past 35 and that a heart transplant was impossible.
But his life changed after he met Amy. They had a daughter together, Esmee, and were planning to get married, and then he found out he could have a heart transplant to save his life.
As mentioned earlier, Amy was diagnosed with breast cancer at the same time. Despite heavy treatments, the cancer spread to her liver. Amy passed away at the age of 42.
The couple had postponed their wedding date as Amy’s condition worsened, but 48 hours before they were to exchange vows, she passed away.
“Amy was an amazing mother to Esmee, our cute, dear little daughter,” Sam told The Sun newspaper.
‘Almost Perfect’
“It’s a cruel twist of fate that she wanted to become a mother and then ended up this way.”
“We had two beautiful years together without health problems. It was almost perfect.”
“Esmee has beautiful memories of Amy, but I’m afraid they will fade. She is so close to both parents.”
Our thoughts go out to Sam and his beautiful daughter. We wish him all the best with his health and future happiness.
