Everyone knows the saying “right time, right place”. Jane Harper is fully aware of what that saying means.
The woman, who enjoys hiking, made a chilling discovery when she found a dog in a river.
She was walking along the Trent River in England when she noticed something that completely shocked her.
But, because she was in the right place at the right time, she was able to save the life of a dog. The police’s animal cruelty unit is now investigating the case.
Jane found the dog in the water and saw that it wasn’t moving. She feared the worst and thought it was dead. But when she took a closer look, she realized the real horror the animal had endured.
Seemed like a dead dog
She ran into the icy cold water to save the poor dog. While in the water, she saw a stone tied to the dog’s tail.
“It seemed like a dead dog, but when it blinked its eyes, I ran into the water,” Jane told BBC News.
“At first we thought she was stuck in the river, but only when I tried to get her out of the water did I realize I couldn’t help her. The water was so dark that I couldn’t see the stone at first. It was terrible.”
The dog had managed to rest her head on a rock to breathe, but when Jane pulled her out of the water, another woman brought towels to wrap her in. Another passerby gave his sweater.
“She was completely hypothermic. We thought she would die. It was very emotional,” she told BBC News.
Animal cruelty
After being taken to the vet, it was discovered that she had a microchip. She turned out to be named Bella and her owners’ names were also found.
A man and a woman were arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty, reports The Mirror.
The police say the dog is recovering despite being very sick. They hope that the dog will survive this horrific mistreatment.
Jane is a true heroine!
How could someone do such a thing? That’s incomprehensible to me. Please share to show your support for sweet Bella.
