When you hear “poodle,” you likely think of dogs. But have you heard of “poodle cats”? Yes, they exist!
These charming felines boast a luxuriously curly coat, including their whiskers, resembling adorable teddy bears.
Known as “Selkirk Rex,” this special breed emerged in 1987 when a curly-coated kitten was born among a litter of normally haired cats, resulting from a crossbreeding of a blue tortoiseshell cat and a white cat.

Hailed as “cats in sheep’s clothing,” these felines make wonderful pets as they thrive on love and attention, making them ideal for households with children.

Originating from Montana, these cats are believed to be the result of a natural genetic mutation. Though rare, they are highly coveted for their unique looks.
With their low-maintenance curly fur, Selkirk Rex cats require minimal grooming, shedding very little hair, which makes them perfect for indoor living.
According to pet site Hillspet.com, “With proper care — regular teeth brushing and a healthy diet — your ‘fluffy baby’ will reciprocate all the love she can give, and that’s a lot.”
Described as “clowns” by Vetstreet, Selkirk Rex cats enjoy lounging on laps and engaging in conversation with their owners.
I’ve never seen a cat as charming as this one. I’m smitten! If you adore this cat breed too, share the love!
