The Shocking Horn Growth on a Man’s Head

Shyam Lal Yadav, a 74-year-old man, developed a devilish growth on his head after bumping into something. Shyam mentioned that the horn started growing about 5 years ago, but now it has become unbearable, necessitating surgery.
According to reports from Mirror, Shyam noticed the horn gradually growing larger after the initial impact. Initially, he could somewhat manage its growth by styling his hair to hide it. However, as the horn grew disproportionately, surgery became inevitable.
This type of growth, known as a ‘sebaceous horn,’ is composed of the same substances found in toenails and human hair.
Neurosurgeons performed a delicate operation on the man at a clinic in India, successfully removing the growth and allowing him to return to a normal life. He is currently in the process of recovery.
Dr. Vishal Gajbhiye, the surgeon involved, shared, “Five years ago, the man sustained a head injury, which led to the formation of a growth on his head. Initially, he ignored the discomfort as it was not causing any problems. A local barber could trim it and cover it with hair. However, as the growth hardened and accelerated, he walked into the hospital seeking help.”
Dr. Gajbhiye further explained, “Medically, this type of growth is referred to as a devil’s horn. Since it is made of keratin, similar to hair and toenails, the horn can be manually removed using a special knife. However, the underlying issue still needs to be addressed.”
