Teenager Dies in Hospital – Doctors Say Fatal Mistake Made While Eating

An 18-year-old boy from India died after eating undercooked pork.

An 18-year-old boy from India died after eating undercooked pork. This was reported by New England Journal of Medicine.

The tragic incident that occurred in India has received international attention. The teenager complained of severe abdominal pain and cramps, as reported by NY Post.

He was then taken to the emergency room. The boy, who was very confused, underwent a brain scan and was diagnosed with cysticercosis transmitted by a tapeworm due to improperly cooked meat.

In Europe, it is extremely rare for people to become infected with tapeworms these days.

In rare cases, people can serve as intermediate hosts for T. solium and develop cysticercosis. This can happen when you swallow worm eggs through food contaminated with human feces. The ingested eggs attach themselves to the intestines and the larvae burrow through the intestinal wall and the bloodstream through various organs. The condition can be serious, especially when cysts are present in the brain,” writes the Public Health Authority.

The doctors diagnosed the boy with neurocysticercosis. They did everything they could to save him, but it was in vain. He passed away two weeks later.

According to WHO, people contract neurocysticercosis after consuming undercooked food, especially pork or water contaminated with eggs, or due to poor hygiene as reported by NY Post. It is not uncommon in Latin America and Asia, but also occurs in Africa.

Therefore, it is important to cook your food thoroughly.

What a tragic story. Rest in peace.
