Italian opera singer Andrea Bocelli announced that he contracted COVID-19 in March.
The renowned singer shared with his fans his hope for a speedy recovery to be able to perform at a live event.

Bocelli explained that he kept his diagnosis private initially to protect his family’s privacy and to avoid causing unnecessary concern among his fans.
“Out of respect for those more severely affected by the virus, I chose not to share the news,” he stated on Facebook.
The 61-year-old singer shared that he donated blood to support researchers in finding a vaccine for the virus.
“I immediately agreed to donate blood as it contributes to the search for a cure for the coronavirus,” Bocelli expressed.
“It’s a small but essential gesture, allowing me to play my part,” he added.
YouTube Record Broken
Bocelli, who has been blind since the age of twelve, achieved a record number of viewers on YouTube for his concert “Music for Hope” held in an empty cathedral last Easter.
His performance at the Milan Cathedral attracted over 28 million viewers within the first 24 hours, surpassing 40 million views to date.
It’s a relief that Andrea Bocelli and his family have recovered from this ordeal, and that he was able to deliver such a remarkable performance during these challenging times. Truly an inspirational figure.
