Just like with humans, births in the animal world are a big event. The little dog Rosa had puppies but what should have been a joyful day ended in tragedy.
All the puppies died at birth, in the animal shelter where the mother gave birth. The mother knew nothing but that all her puppies had died, but a day later, a true miracle happened.
Suddenly, Rosa had a lot of puppies around her, and the fairytale got an even more beautiful and happy ending on top of it all. Despite all the tragedy that had happened before.
The small Chihuahua, Rosa, had been looking forward to giving birth. She didn’t have a permanent home, but lived in a dog shelter in the American state of Minnesota where she was well taken care of.
All Puppies Passed Away
Rosa gave birth to a bunch of little puppies, but shortly after birth, a tragedy occurred. They were born six days early and didn’t survive.
Rosa and the shelter workers were devastated. Watching the little Chihuahua carry her puppies for so long only to be completely alone after they were born left them very sad. One can only imagine how little Rosa must have felt.
But everything changed a day later.
The shelter received an urgent call. A bunch of small two-week-old puppies had lost their mother and needed help. The shelter asked if they could help.
Orphaned Puppies Adopted
But then they came up with an idea. The puppies needed a mother, while Rosa wanted to care for her own babies.
“We thought, ‘Would this work?’ We made sure the puppies ended up with us, and from then on, everything fell into place, we brought them together as a family,” said Rachel Mairose, the shelter manager, to Today.
Rosa could then meet the little puppies for the first time. The staff hoped that from then on everything would turn out well. But first, they were nervous to see how the puppies would be received by their new mom.
Sweet Mother
Rosa heard the little puppies gasping for breath and started wagging her tail. Rachel said they realized it could work.
“The emotional part. It’s fate. A true miracle,” Rachel told Today.
Rosa takes care of the little puppies and loves them as if they were her own. She doesn’t leave their side for a second.
“Amazing Mother”
The staff closely monitored how Rosa and her puppies were doing together. Within two months, they will be ready for adoption.
“She’s truly an amazing mother. She adopted them, it’s just perfect. Now she has her own little family and I think they are perfect for each other,” Rachel told Today.
Little Rosa is truly an amazing mother. It’s so beautiful to see her finally have her own babies, despite the tragedy that befell her. We wish both the mother and the puppies all the best for the future!
