There are heroes, and then there are heroes with a capital “H.”
In this tale, Don Chatten, a man with a heart in the right place, was strolling with his two dogs near a picturesque lake in the park.
The lake was frozen, and no one wants to fall through the ice – that’s common knowledge.
When one of Don’s dogs started barking, he sensed the urgency but didn’t fully grasp it at first.
He scanned the surroundings to figure out why his dog was acting strangely. Then, he heard a sort of howling coming from beneath the ice, as reported by WKBW TV Buffalo.
On that icy day, realizing that his dog had spotted another dog trapped under the ice, Don plunged into the freezing water without hesitation!
YouTubeUndertaking a perilous rescue, Don called out for assistance from onlookers. What he did was incredibly risky. Using his fist, he smashed through the ice to free the stranded dog. In no time, they were back on solid ground. It must have been a remarkable sight to witness.
Later, Don learned that the rescued dog, named Jackson, had been missing for quite some time. Jackson was promptly taken to a veterinarian and survived the ordeal, all thanks to Don’s heroic actions.
