Teacher’s Urgent Warning: Energy Drink Eats Away Tongue
Official warning
People have long been warned about the potential dangers of consuming energy drinks.
They can be useful or enjoyable in moderation, but pouring large quantities of chemicals and stimulants into your body will simply not end well.
If you still need convincing, just look at Dan Royals, a teacher who shared a quite gruesome image on his tongue on Facebook. His doctor believes energy drinks are to blame…

Dan brought it up on Facebook:
“Who drinks energy drinks? Who is addicted? Think again. Look at the 2nd photo… That’s what that stuff does to your tongue, imagine what it does to your guts? Before this started happening, I was drinking at least 5-6 cans a day (lack of energy to teach children properly) and I brushed my teeth daily, went to the doctor and bam! I discovered it’s the chemicals in these drinks causing it… It literally eats away your tongue.”

Dan also admitted that he smokes, but this has had no effect on his tongue.
So be aware guys. Just to clarify, I actually care about my oral health, but this comes purely from these drinks… I do smoke but has nothing to do with eating my tongue.”
Official warning
Dan is not the first to warn others of the potential pitfalls of consuming energy drinks. Researchers from the World Health Organization told the British newspaper Metro: “A study in the US found that cavities may result from the acidic pH and high sugar content of products like energy drinks.
Another study found that consumption of energy drinks can cause erosion to the teeth, leading to dentin hypersensitivity.”
As with most things, one or two cans will not give you rotten teeth or a damaged tongue, but abusing energy drinks can be extremely detrimental to your overall health. If you think you have a problem, we always recommend seeking medical advice on how to rectify the situation before it’s too late.
I knew energy drinks could be bad, but I had no idea they could affect a tongue like that!
