John Travolta’s Iconic Dance from Grease: 40 Years Later

Grease is a movie we are all familiar with. And even if you haven’t seen it yet, you may recognize some of the songs from that iconic 70s hit movie.

When teenage girls around the world saw a young Danny Zuko in his leather jacket, many fell in love instantly.

It was the summer of 1978 when the beloved movie was released. How could we forget the tough Danny who fell in love with the very sweet Sandy Olsson from Australia, surrounded by the ladies and some beautiful dance moves.

When the summer ended, Sandy returned to Australia and they thought they would never meet again… until Sandy showed up at a football game and announced that she was a new student at his school!

He was just like the rascal pretending his summer love didn’t happen and playing it cool but soon he couldn’t resist the stunning Sandy.

It seems like it was just yesterday when I watched the movie and the songs (and dance moves) are still fresh in my memory. And it seems I’m not the only one.

Jimmy Fallon

John Travolta, who played Danny all those years ago, appeared on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” to celebrate 40 years since the movie Grease was released.

Travolta revealed how one of the dances from the movie Grease came to be. “I grew up dancing,” he told Fallon. “In Grease, they needed a dance for ‘You’re the one that I want’ at the end. I said ‘I know a dance?’, So the choreographer said ‘show it to me’.”

Fallon was intrigued and when the audience cheered as he asked Travolta if he would show it to him.

The music started and all hearts melted again.
