The upsetting incident occurred in Liverpool back in January of this year. Megan Taylor, accompanied by her guide dog Rowley, was on the bus when a fellow passenger confronted her about having a dog.

Blind at fifteen

At the age of 15, Megan Taylor experienced a severe head injury that led to her losing her sight. Additionally, she lost her hearing and is prone to fainting.

Rowley, a two-year-old labrador, serves as Megan’s guide and aide, assisting her with daily tasks.

Rowley just wants to help

Rowley goes above and beyond to support Megan, from fetching items to aiding in dressing and undressing. He even helps with household chores like laundry and ensures her safety in traffic—a loyal and invaluable companion dedicated to assisting his friend.

Passenger shouts, “Get that damn dog out!”

Megan and Rowley were unwelcomed on the bus that day. A rude passenger berated Megan, insisting that she should remove her dog because of its color, as documented by Daily Mail.

Misinformed about guide dogs, the passenger wrongly assumed that guide dogs had to be blond, not black like Rowley. She remarked, “guide dogs are blond, and your dog is black,” unjustly scolding the innocent dog.

Woman refuses to listen to reason

Despite Megan’s attempts to educate the passenger on guide dogs’ diversity, the woman remained obstinate, adamant that Megan was mistaken.

Frustrated by the situation, Megan chose to disengage, recognizing the futility of reasoning with the misinformed woman.

Megan gets spit in the face for being blind

Megan reveals that she regularly encounters abuse, including physical altercations and derogatory comments about her condition, attributing her balance issues to a heart condition and neurological diagnosis. Despite the challenges, Megan remains resilient, refusing to let negativity dampen her spirits. She shares her story with The Liverpool Echo.
