Olivia Newton, a renowned film star, is most famous for her iconic role as Sandy in the ’70s blockbuster Grease. Her duet “You’re the One That I Want” with Danny Zuko, played by the equally legendary John Travolta, remains a highlight in movie history.
It stands as one of the best-selling singles of all time.
Grease marked her major breakthrough, and four years later, she reunited with Travolta in the film Two of a Kind.
Aside from her acting success, she is a celebrated singer with four Grammy awards and five number one hits.
Newton has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a testament to her remarkable career.
Nevertheless, life has not always been a smooth sail for the 69-year-old star, who hails from Cambridge, UK, and relocated to Australia at the age of four.
She has faced cancer twice before and has recently received the news of it reoccurring for a third time, as reported by CNN.
In 1992, she confronted breast cancer, fought valiantly, and subsequently had a cancer center in Australia named after her due to her vocal advocacy for breast cancer screening.
Then in 2013, she was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time, which had spread to her shoulder. In an interview with CNN’s Sunday Night program, she shared her reasons for keeping her battle private.

“I considered it a private matter and chose to keep it to myself,” she expressed during an interview with CNN’s Sunday Night.
In 2017, she received the daunting news that her breast cancer had returned and spread to her lower back.
Find Strength in Support
Olivia Newton-John finds immense strength in the unwavering support of her husband, John Easterling, and remains resolute in her determination to overcome cancer for the third time.
“My husband’s support is unwavering. I believe I will prevail; that’s my aim,” she affirmed.
Following her third diagnosis, she disclosed on the CNN program that she utilizes cannabis oil for pain relief. While currently prohibited in her home country of Australia, the substance is legal in certain parts of the United States.
“I am fortunate to reside in a (US) state where it’s permissible… my hope is for its accessibility in Australia for all cancer patients and individuals battling pain associated with cancer or any other illness,” she expressed.
Come late September, this multi-talented individual—singer, songwriter, actress, entrepreneur, and activist—will commemorate her 70th birthday.
