A person out for a morning walk near Petten made a shocking discovery.
While walking through a meadow, they stumbled upon a dead fox, skewered on metal spikes and secured with tie wraps.
The North Holland Environmental Service confirmed this distressing finding to RTL Nieuws through Eugène Later.
“There are still many questions about what exactly happened. The animal has since been removed, but we do not yet know who did that. It fills me with pure horror. I have not seen this before.”
Investigation
The authorities have stated that they will launch an investigation into the incident. It is currently believed to be a disturbing tactic to deter geese and other birds.

The response to the tweet shared by the walker has been overwhelming. Almost everyone is expressing deep shock and outrage.
Using deceased animals is permissible under certain conditions
Interestingly, using deceased animals as scarecrows is not explicitly outlawed. For instance, farmers are permitted to cull crows and utilize them as deterrents, citing ‘damage control’, as mentioned on the Vogelbescherming website.
What an appalling sight! Managing damage is one thing, but this is sheer cruelty.
