Every animal should have a loving and secure home. Regrettably, this is not always the case, but true animal lovers step in to help when needed.
One such case involved Miranda and her family, who were moving to a new home in Washington when they discovered a note from the previous owners.
To their surprise, they learned they wouldn’t be the only inhabitants of the house; there was another resident, a cat named Raz.
Excited about the move, Miranda and her family looked forward to settling in. However, they encountered an unexpected situation on the day of their move.
Note from Previous Owners
Upon receiving the keys and entering their new home, they found a note left on the sink by the previous owners.
The note revealed that there was an old 12-year-old cat living in the yard, which the previous owners had been caring for. They hoped Miranda’s family would continue to care for the cat.
“Welcome to our beloved home. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did. We have one request, which you are not obligated to do, but we would appreciate it. There is an old, orange cat in the yard. He’s a wild cat and has been living here for 12 years. He has a limp leg and is quite shy. We feed him cat food with some water. Twice a day, for many years. We bought a cat house for him for winter and rainy days, it would be nice if you could feed him. With a heavy heart, we have to say goodbye,” read the note shared on The Dodo.
Welcoming Raz Into Their Home
After reading the note, Miranda glanced out into the yard and saw the orange cat, Raz, waiting curiously outside the glass doors to meet his new family.
Although surprised, Miranda was delighted by the unexpected addition. It seemed fate had brought Raz to his new caring owners.
This surprising twist added to their household of five adopted cats, as they happily welcomed Raz into their loving family.
“We laughed because we had a lot of cats. All adopted. People often brought in cats that were rescued, and we took care of them,” Miranda shared with The Dodo.
Daily Care for Raz
Miranda named the cat Raz and gradually earned his trust through providing him with delicious food. Despite Raz’s initial aversion to other cats and people, he began to relax and interact more comfortably as time passed.
“He used to hide when we stood at the door. But now we can sit next to him outside. He comes asking for food, even when the door is closed. He didn’t do that before,” Miranda revealed to The Dodo.
Upon noticing Raz’s injured leg, Miranda promptly arranged for a vet visit, hoping to integrate him with the other cats in the future.
Caring for a Wild Cat
Subsequently, Miranda launched an Instagram page to share Raz and the family’s adventures with the world, showcasing his enjoyment of their garden in the photos.
Unexpectedly gaining a new housemate, Miranda and her family embraced Raz into their lives, believing it was meant to be!
“If you have the chance to care for animals in need, do it. There is nothing more beautiful than gaining the trust of animals and seeing them live comfortably and surrounded by love,” Miranda expressed to The Dodo.
Raz, the cat, clearly thrives on the attention and care provided by Miranda and her family.
