For a long time, there has been a discussion about whether or not wild animals should be allowed in circuses.
A new law in England has now decided to completely ban wild animals in circuses.
The bill was initially introduced in 2011, but a decision was not reached. In 2015, the law could have been passed, but it was ultimately rejected.
However, starting next year, the law will be enforced, as reported by Eurogroup for Animals.
Reports over the years have highlighted instances of physical and mental abuse of wild animals in circuses, reigniting the debate about implementing a ban.
In countries like Sweden, circus animals are still permissible
In the Netherlands, the use of wild animals in circuses is prohibited. Conversely, in Sweden, circus animals are still allowed, although with certain restrictions.
Effective January 1, sea lions and elephants were prohibited in Sweden, while other animals may still be used under certain conditions, according to Aftonbladet.
There is now an expectation that Sweden will also align with England and the Netherlands by implementing a ban! No animals should endure abuse in circuses!
