A 6-year-old boy, displaying a kind heart, showcased his wonderful personality when he accidentally hit an animal while riding his bike.

Derek Lalchhanhima, from northeastern India, was devastated when he unknowingly ran over a chicken with his bike.
Unaware of the chicken’s fate
As per Derek’s father, the boy carried the deceased chicken home, a story reported by NDTV.
“Unaware of the chicken’s death, he insisted on taking it to the hospital, and upon getting his father’s approval, he set off on his own,” shared Sanga on social media.
With his life savings of 10 rupees, he took the chicken to the hospital.
Touched by the boy’s compassion, a nurse at the hospital clicked a photo of him and tried to explain that they couldn’t help the chicken.
Derek, feeling despondent, returned home and wanted to go back to the hospital with more money in a bid to save the chicken.
School honors Derek’s compassionate act
“His parents had to explain to him that the chicken had passed away and nothing could be done at the hospital,” mentioned the hospital staff to NDTV.
This heartwarming story of the boy has been shared over 90,000 times.
Upon learning of Derek’s selfless deed, his school decided to recognize him and presented him with a certificate for his “beautiful act.”
