Mel, a small Shih Tzu, was on a ninth-floor balcony in Ribeirao Preto, Brazil, when she lost her balance and fell.
Heard a loud noise and realized the horror
Joao Augusto, a passerby, heard a loud noise and saw the dog on the railing. Realizing the danger, he sprang into action.
Spotting Paulo Narciso, an apartment owner on another floor, Joao urgently requested a towel to catch the falling dog.
Unfortunately, time was running out.
Fell 30 meters
Mel’s fall from the ninth floor was a harrowing 30-meter drop, a situation that could have ended tragically.
Fortunately, Joao was in the right place at the right time to rescue Mel.
Dog caught
Joao managed to catch Mel as they both fell to the ground, with Mel appearing unharmed in the footage. Joao’s well-being following the incident remains unknown, but his heroic act undoubtedly saved Mel’s life.
Given the circumstances, Mel’s small size was a crucial factor that prevented a potentially catastrophic outcome.
