Fewer episodes
Season 2 will consist of only seven episodes, down from the nine in season 1. Showrunner Craig Mazin clarified: ‘The story material we received from part 2 of the game is much more expansive than what was in the first game, so part of our initial task was to figure out how to span that story across multiple seasons.’
‘In doing so, we searched for organic points to pause, and as we structured this season, it felt natural to conclude after seven episodes.’ While a third season has not been officially announced yet, Mazin’s remarks and the source material’s framework suggest that season 3 is likely in the cards.
The Last of Us is accessible on HBO Max. Season 2 is set to debut on April 13. You can view the trailer at the beginning of this article.
