New Law: Tougher Penalties for Animal Abusers – Could Face Up to 5 Years in Prison

Animals deserve the best treatment they can get. Regrettably, animal abuse remains prevalent worldwide.

Fortunately, a new legislation now stipulates that those who abuse animals could potentially receive a 5-year prison sentence.

Individuals who inflict harm on children or animals display a cold and heartless demeanor. It is unacceptable to harm innocent beings who are unable to defend themselves.

As a response to this issue, a new law has been enacted to combat animal abuse.

England and Wales have taken a stand to address animal cruelty more rigorously by imposing stricter penalties.

Currently, in these regions, the maximum penalty is 6 months. Nonetheless, under the new law, this penalty would increase to 5 years in prison, as reported by BBC.

This law will particularly apply in cases of dog fighting, cat abuse, or severe animal neglect.

According to a survey, 70% of the population has approved of the law, which is a positive step, but more action is necessary!
