Miracle Rescue: Dog on Brink of Death in Fire Saved by Unlikely Hero

In March 2017, the West Palm Beach, California fire department responded to a fierce forest fire. One of the firefighters, Gregg Gordon, found a dog tied to a tree.

The courageous dog struggled against the smoke and heat, nearly losing its life.

Firefighter Marcos Orozca freed the dog’s collar and rescued the animal from the fire. Without hesitation, he took the severely burned dog to a veterinarian.

“The little dog was severely burned,” shared Gregg Gordon with The Palm Beach Post.

He added:

“When we rescued him, he was under immense stress, and I wasn’t certain if he would survive.”

Veterinarian Latimer treated the severe burns, leading to the dog affectionately being named “Smokey.”

Despite the slim chances of survival, the dog’s condition improved over time. However, Smokey remained apprehensive about what lay ahead.
