What’s Your Ban-Choice: The Color of Your Banana Might Matter More Than You Think
If someone asked you what color a banana should be before eating it, you’d probably say yellow, right?
Of course, we all know bananas can vary greatly in color, from bright green to brown and everything in between.
What many don’t know is that the nutritional value of a banana changes with its appearance. That’s why the color of the fruit can affect what kind of effects it has on your body.
Now for the big question… which color banana will you choose after reading this article?

1-3: Green bananas
Green – and young – bananas can be called diet bananas because they haven’t developed as much sugar as their yellow, more mature counterparts. In addition to having a lower glycemic index, they contain a lot of starch, which keeps you full longer. Of course, this affects the taste – they’re not as sweet as yellow or brown ones.
4-5: Yellow and firm
When the banana is completely yellow, it’s mature and firm. At this point, it has reached a sweet taste and is perfectly digestible. It has also developed some antioxidants that help protect the body from diseases like heart issues and support the fight against aging.

6-7: Speckled brown
Many people choose to discard bananas that become discolored or turn brown, but you can actually help your body fight cancer and stomach problems by eating them. Bananas that are speckled, colored, or otherwise appear more mature are rich in TNF, which counteracts the development of cancer cells. The more spots, the more TNF in the banana.
Because these bananas have more fructose and a higher glycemic index, they’re also richer in calories. If you want to avoid sugar, it’s better to choose a lighter banana.

While not many people think about it on a daily basis, it’s always important to know what you’re putting into your body. Share this story on Facebook to help others and let us know which color banana you choose when given the choice.
