Sudden Rash Alert: Mother Rushes Son to Emergency Room!
The Shocking Discovery
It is every parent’s nightmare. Something terrible happens to your child and you don’t know exactly what is going on or how to help. But for Karen McGregor, this nightmare became a gruesome reality. One day, she discovered that her 2-year-old son had a strange type of rash on his skin, covering his entire body. Her motherly instinct immediately thought that something was wrong.
Karen remembered a Facebook post from a few days ago… and rushed her son to the hospital.

At first glance, Karen McGregor thought the rash on her son came from playing in a field with tall grass. But soon she remembered a Facebook post from a few days ago. It was a warning about Lyme disease and what the symptoms look like.

Lyme disease is spread through ticks, and Karen had never noticed a tick on her son. But she decided to play it safe and contact a doctor anyway. This decision would prove to be invaluable later.

Doctors told Karen that her son was suffering from Lyme disease after being bitten by a tick weeks earlier. But thanks to Karen’s quick response, her 2-year-old toddler received the necessary help. His doctors gave him antibiotics, and he started to feel better quickly.

After this distressing incident, Karen decided to warn other parents as well. She believes that the Facebook post saved her son’s life, or at least he was definitely going to lead a normal life.
“If it weren’t for the Facebook post I had read, I never would have thought it would be anything more than a simple rash caused by tall grass!” writes Karen McGregor on Facebook.
About Lyme Disease
The Lyme disease can be very dangerous if left untreated. The infection can cause meningitis, arthritis, and in the worst cases, paralysis. However, if you remove the tick immediately, the chances of getting infected are low. This is according to the Centers for Disease Control in the United States.
The first sign of Lyme is a rash on your skin that looks like a round red shape. It usually takes 1 to 4 weeks after the bite for the rash to appear and can grow up to 30 cm in size. The skin may feel warm at times, but does not itch and is not painful.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, these are also symptoms of Lyme:
- Fever
- Chills
- Headache
- Muscle and joint pain
- Swollen lymph nodes

Now that summer is approaching, tick season is back too. Keep an eye on your children and always check for tick bites after they’ve played outside. Make sure they mostly wear long pants, long sleeves, shoes, and socks when they are in the woods or fields.
