Where’s Kate? The Royal No-Show at the 2025 BAFTA Awards

Celebrities walked the red carpet on Sunday night for the BAFTA Film Awards, but the Prince and Princess of Wales were not in attendance at the ceremony. The royal couple had been regular attendees since 2011, and their last appearance together was in 2023.

In 2024, Prince William attended alone, as he has been the President of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts since 2010. Kate Middleton was recovering from stomach surgery at the time. Prior to this year’s event, the palace announced that the couple would not be in attendance, but did not give a reason.

Family Time

It’s been a busy time for the two, and People reports that Valentine’s Day was the last day of school for their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, before their spring break. The family was then seen on the private island of Mustique in the Caribbean, according to The Mail on Sunday. It was reported that Carole, Kate Middleton’s mother, may have joined them and that they first flew to St. Lucia.

On February 12, Prince William attended an event at the London Screen Academy in North London to meet film students and other members of the film industry. During the event, he spoke with senior representatives of BAFTA and the LSA board about opportunities for young people in entertainment, sharing that ‘the essence of movie stars… is so far removed from reality,’ adding: ‘It feels like a lot of people don’t know they can work in the film industry.’

In 2023, Kate Middleton wore a white dress by Alexander McQueen with an asymmetrical neckline that she previously wore in 2019, a pair of black opera gloves, and gold earrings from Zara.
