The Invictus Games have officially come to an end. And although this edition in Canada was once again a success, there was a little incident involving Prince Harry and ensuring his safety during the sitting volleyball match on February 15.
Prince Harry’s Security Intervened During Invictus Games This Weekend, and Here’s Why
After Meghan Markle had left Canada earlier to be back with their children, Archie and Lilibet, in Montecito, Prince Joachim and Princess Marie of Denmark made an appearance at the sports event last Saturday, February 15.
But as Harry watched a sitting volleyball match during the Invictus Games this weekend, it reportedly became so crowded that his security team decided to take action. Express shared earlier: ‘At one point, the Duke reportedly had to be escorted outside by his security team after being swarmed by fans wanting to take selfies with him.’
GB News stated that ‘the incident shortened Harry’s planned interactions, preventing him from attending the event with dozens of UK Team family members and friends.’
GB News also reported that Prince Harry’s ‘security team intervened due to concerns about crowd safety. His guard had to step in and keep people who were getting too close to the prince at a distance.’
Prince Harry Talks About the Invictus Games 2027
However, that was certainly not the last appearance of Prince Harry during the Invictus Games this year. After successful days of sports, Harry gave a speech where he also looked forward to the Invictus Games in 2027. He said, according to Instyle: ‘And as long as the challenges around us demand it and require it, the games will continue. Bring on the Invictus Games. Birmingham 2027, you have permission to party.’
