Dogs are such amazing animals. They have incredible instincts and senses that we humans lack – and often they can be lifesavers.
A Heroic Husky Saves the Day!
That’s the story of a heroic dog that saved a neighborhood in Philadelphia from a potentially deadly explosion.
Chanell Bell shared the story on Christmas Eve and called her dog Kobe “the dog that saved the neighborhood before Christmas”.
In the video, Chanell recalls seeing her four-year-old Husky digging a large hole in her front yard. She said the behavior “wasn’t like him at all.”
“I trust his judgment because that’s not his typical behavior, and he’s usually right,” Chanell told SWNS. “When I saw the hole, I realized it was strange behavior for my dog. My intuition told me to check it out.”
Chanell had recently experienced a gas leak in her home, and after having issues with her heating, she used a gas tester, but it didn’t reveal any problems in her house.
But Kobe kept digging in the same spot, and on a hunch, she decided to use the gas tester on the hole. It detected gas – a potentially lethal gas leak.
“We were told it could have caused serious health effects, like breathing problems, brain damage, and even death,” Chanell told SWNS.
Crews worked for the next three days to fix the gas leak and said that even a light switch could have caused a catastrophic explosion. By detecting the gas on time, Kobe saved everyone in the neighborhood.
“It’s really amazing,” Chanell says in the video. “I’m so thankful to God, so thankful for my little boy,” she added, referring to Kobe.

The remarkable story went viral, and many praised Kobe as a hero. Many suggested that the story was worthy of a children’s book, so Chanell wrote and published a book titled The Dog That Saved The Block Before Christmas.
Kobe also has his own website, where you can find his social media links, buy a treat for him on Amazon, and even purchase the gas tester you see in the video – you never know when you might need it.
Wow, what a story! It’s heartbreaking to think of what could have happened if the gas leak wasn’t discovered, but luckily smart dog Kobe saved the day!
