Rescued: Mother Dog and 8 Puppies Found Bound in Forest, Now Safe and Sound

It was heart-wrenching how a mother dog and her eight puppies were abandoned and had to fend for themselves. Now, they are getting an inspiring new start.

On March 30, Knotty Creek Animal Rescue in Sweet Home, Oregon shared the story of a “heartbreaking situation” and a “scene of unimaginable cruelty and neglect.”

A local resident found a mother dog tied to a tree along with her 8 puppies, “in complete fear for their lives,” they wrote on Facebook.

According to KATU, the dogs had nothing to eat except a nearby deer carcass.

All to the shelter center

Despite the sad circumstances, the mother dog seemed resilient and did her best to care for her puppies. Additionally, she had a “look of tenderness and trust.”

Fortunately, Knotty Creek Animal Rescue had the space to accommodate all 9 dogs. In updates, they reported that the puppies, seven boys and one girl, were energetic and playful.

“They are already settling in nicely, playing with their toys and bothering mom who has done nothing but catch up on much-needed sleep,” Knotty Creek wrote on Facebook. “It’s great to see how quickly they are adapting.”

Aside from getting some well-deserved rest, the mother dog is recovering from a leg injury. In a few days, she has an appointment with the vet. The rescue organization said she is “definitely ready to let the puppies go.”

According to Oregon Live, the rescue organization believes the dogs are Asian shepherds between 9 and 12 weeks old.

Knotty Creek has started accepting adoption requests for the puppies, so hopefully they will all find a forever home soon.

It’s heartbreaking that someone tied up this sweet mother dog and left her in the forest, but we’re glad that she and her puppies are now in good hands. We hope they all find a loving home soon!
