# Witness the Century’s Longest Eclipse and a Blood Moon on July 27!

Summer doesn’t just mean sun, flowers, and vanilla ice cream…
No, summer also means the night sky will reveal something phenomenal later this month.
If you want to witness the longest total eclipse of the century, keep your eyes open towards the sky in the evening on July 27.

In recent years, the sky has given us some fantastic spectacles. Those of you who have paid attention will have seen a series of spectacular moon and solar eclipses, as well as one or two blood moons.
On July 27, the next lunar eclipse will take place, where the moon will pass beyond the Earth’s shadow, creating a reddish haze known as the “blood moon.”
Longest lunar eclipse of the century
According to Business Insider, this eclipse will be the longest as the moon will pass through the darkest part of the Earth’s shadow called the ‘umbra’, resulting in the recognizable reddish glow lasting about an hour and 43 minutes.

Things to keep in mind
The eclipse will only be visible to people on the Eastern Hemisphere – Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.
Moreover, on the same day, Mars will be visible to the naked eye, being only 57 million km away from Earth on July 31, the closest in the last 15 years!
