The Daily Wait: Elderly Man Anticipates Daily Greeting from Friend Emerging from the Water

Friendship comes in many forms.

I have seen many unexpected friendships between animals of different species. There’s the elephant with a dog as a best friend, the dog whose best friend is a duck, and the list goes on.

But this one takes the cake…

It’s always a pleasure to see how some fantastic and unlikely friendships form! The phenomenon of people becoming best friends with animals has always fascinated us. Usually it involves dogs, cats, horses, or maybe even more “ordinary” pets that are found worldwide in and around homes.

And yet, there are also people who form a special bond with somewhat unconventional animals.

A few years ago, a man named Seppo Laamanen gained a lot of online attention. This was after he had formed a rather unexpected friendship.

In 2011, Seppo Laamanen lived in a town called Punkaharju, located in eastern Finland, in a red cottage with white trim – surrounded by the beautiful winter landscape.

Every morning, Seppo would trek down to the pond near the cottage. Because down there, a friend was waiting for him.

Every day, a hungry otter would appear at the older man’s door.

Straight from the frozen water, the otter had seen Seppo living alone in a house near where he had made his nest, and wondered if he had some food leftover.

Seppo later named the otter Iivari, and since he was always hungry, Seppo naturally fed the animal as well.

And ever since, these two have been inseparable.

Seeing that the poor otter was small and undernourished, Seppo fed him worms and fish to satisfy his hunger, according to The Telegraph.

Then the friendly animal repaid the kindness by visiting Seppo at his house in Punkaharju in eastern Finland.

The elderly man who successfully formed a friendship with a kind otter in the forest near his home enjoys spending some quality time outdoors with the animal, while also taking in the fresh air and surrounding nature.

The duo gets many visitors, but Seppo is the only one who can get close to Iivari.

Iivari is so comfortable with Seppo that he even enters his house where there is a food bowl for him and eats on the porch outside.

Pets are amazing creatures that bring joy into our lives and make the world a better place! Even if they’re not your traditional pets like cats and dogs, they still deserve the utmost respect and care.

It’s amazing to see how many people actually go out of their way to help some of these animals, and you wonder how many people did this before Facebook! I tend to think that many people have been helping animals all the time!

Share this amazing and funny video with your friends and family, because they’re sure to get a good laugh out of it!
