We’ve all experienced the surprise of a seemingly inanimate object coming to life. Mother Cheyenne Benzo had a similar moment at home.
What followed was a heartwarming story with a happy ending.
One day, Cheyenne Benzo noticed an unusual sight in her house while she was with her daughter and their dog Sheldon. Near Sheldon’s bed, she saw what appeared to be a clump of fur, a common sight due to Sheldon’s shedding.
“Sheldon is like a fur tornado. Finding tufts of fur around is normal,” Benzo shared with The Dodo.

However, this particular clump of fur seemed different. It was more compact and, to Cheyenne’s surprise, it was moving!
A Surprising Discovery
Cheyenne, initially taken aback, decided to investigate further with a flashlight. To her amazement, she realized that the furry ball had eyes.
Upon closer inspection, she discovered that the supposed hairball was actually a small green tree frog. The frog was entangled in Sheldon’s shed fur, hindering its movement.
“After allowing me to remove some fur, the little frog attempted to hop, but struggled,” Benzo explained. “I gently cleaned him with water. Surprisingly, he remained calm throughout the cleaning.”
After the impromptu grooming session, the once fluffy frog regained its normal composure.
Sharing the Experience
Once the frog was in good shape, Cheyenne showed it to her 8-month-old daughter before releasing it near a nearby stream.
The frog savored its freedom under a hibiscus bush for a while.
“I was pleased to teach my daughter the importance of helping and caring for animals,” Benzo expressed. “She enjoyed the experience of releasing the frog. It’s a lesson I cherish and encourage every day,” Cheyenne added.
Helping an animal in need is a rewarding experience. Teaching children about caring for animals and nature is invaluable.
