An electrician felt watched while working in the abandoned house. And it turned out to be true.
As the man looked around, he quickly made eye contact with two small beings.
When an electrician was working in an abandoned house in Detroit, USA, he initially thought he was alone in the house.
But when he looked out the window to the backyard, he realized his mistake. He was far from alone. There, in the back, someone was watching him.
The electrician went outside to get a closer look, and it turned out to be two puppies huddled on the lawn.
One looked at him, but the electrician quickly realized that one of the pups was injured.
The man knew right away that he had to help the little lives, so he grabbed the phone and called Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue to see if they could help.
Theresa Sumptes, the founder of the rescue organization, took on the task and picked up the puppies the same day.
Initially, the puppies were terrified of people and kept their distance, but soon realized that Theresa was there to help.
“It felt great to save them because I wasn’t sure if I could secure them both safely, as they were very hesitant and cautious when they first approached me,” Sumpter told The Dodo.
“With sweet talk and tasty treats, I was able to convince them.”
This is how the pups live today
It took about 30 minutes, but the abandoned puppies, later named Mercy and Grace, were soon confined to a cage and rushed to the vet.
Initially, they were so shy that it was thought to be a long process to get used to other people, but after two weeks, they were unrecognizable.
“They both have come out of their shells and are doing great,” said Sumpter.
The two puppies are now healthy and looking forward to moving to their new homes.
