Since 2014, we’ve been celebrating Kingsday on April 27th, the birthday of King Willem-Alexander. When April 27th falls on a Sunday, Kingsday is celebrated the day before, as is the case this year. Therefore, this year’s festivities will take place on Saturday, April 26th. Whether you’re visiting a flea market or dancing at a festival, we’ve got all the details for you.

This year, Kingsday is on Saturday, April 26, 2025. Every year, the streets of villages and cities throughout the Netherlands are filled with colorful stalls, and festivities and parties can be found across the country to honor the king’s birthday.

Kingsday Doetinchem

This year, the Dutch royal family will visit Doetinchem in Gelderland to flood the city with orange.

Program Kingsday 2025

Details of the program for Kingsday 2025 in Doetinchem are still forthcoming as it’s early in the year. However, Doetinchem plans an extensive weekend celebration starting from Friday evening through Sunday evening. The children’s flea market, where kids can sell items or showcase talents, will take place on Sunday morning, April 27th, instead of Kingsday itself.
