Without animals, the earth would have been a slightly less cozy place. Yet there are many who are mean to these beautiful creatures.
When the dog Julian was found alone on the street and abandoned, he was in such poor condition that you could hardly tell what kind of animal he was.
He had large mats all over his body, making it hard for him to walk.
We do not know who left this poor dog to his fate, but we do know who saved him.
Valia Orfanidou works at Save Greek Stray, an organization that tries to prevent animal abuse, and she was the one who found Julian on the street.
When she saw the emaciated guy, she immediately decided to do her utmost to save his life.
Once Julian was safe, he was examined and it turned out that it was not just the fur that made him that way. The poor dog also had cataracts, was partially deaf, and was diagnosed with a heart condition.
But despite his poor health condition, Julian showed a lot of zest for life and Valia decided to give him a life full of care and love.
Cut all the fur off
But there was a lot to do, not least Valia had to help him with all the mats and the dirty coat, and that was not the easiest task.
Everything from feces to gigantic insects had hidden in the mats and the smell was unbearable.
It took Valia and her colleagues four hours to remove everything, but once it was gone, the transformation was complete.
No one could believe what a delightful cute dog was hidden under all that fur.
Not seen what kind of animal it was
People walking through the clinic where Julian was being cared for kept asking what the clump of fur really was. They didn’t even realize it was a dog because they couldn’t see his face very well.
Then the rescue. Julian’s fur has become white and fluffy, but although he is the nicest being in the world, his age and various diagnoses have prevented him from finding a new home.
We wish Julian all the best and hope that he finds his person in life. Until then, he is with Valia and the other animal rescuers in the dog shelter.
