As Christmas approaches, many look forward to being with their families. It’s essential to remember those without a home, including shelter dogs.
These animals long for a loving, warm home for Christmas, yet numerous will remain in shelters during the holidays.
For one small dog, a Yorkie, abandonment led to heartbreak as his family wanted him euthanized. Now, this little Yorkie dreams of finding a home for the holidays.
Theo, 4-year-old Yorkie
Theo is a 4-year-old Yorkshire Terrier abandoned by his family at a vet who intended to euthanize him.
Thankfully, Theo’s life was spared, and instead of being euthanized, he was taken in by Friends of Rescue in Northern Ireland. Currently in foster care, he is in search of a new loving home.
Health Issues = Euthanasia?
The reason behind the family’s decision to euthanize Theo remains unclear as he seems happy and relatively healthy. The shelter mentioned that Theo may have signs of potential tracheal issues but does not require treatment and is doing well. There are no known health issues listed on his adoption page.
Theo’s foster mother describes him as playful and somewhat energetic, noting that with sufficient walks and playtime, he behaves well and is well-behaved at night.
Currently struggling to adjust, Theo is nearly house-trained but not fully there yet. He would thrive in a home with an active individual capable of providing him with the attention he craves.
“He’s a sweet little guy, kind and fun, looking for an active person to spend time with him,” his foster mother shared.
Theo has been at the shelter since October, and there is hope, according to The Mirror, that he finds a home by Christmas.
Theo is currently in Derry, Northern Ireland. If interested in offering this sweet dog the home he deserves, contact via his pet adoption website.
