Hello Brows: The New Playful and Quirky Beauty Trend
It’s no secret that eyebrows are the ultimate beauty playground. Just scroll through social media and you’ll find a wild variety of eyebrow trends, from unicorn horns to Nike swooshes and even fishtail designs.
But just when you thought you’d seen it all, the quirky new halo eyebrows came into view…
Like many bizarre beauty trends, halo brows owe their existence to the wonderfully strange world of social media. Platforms like TikTok and Instagram have become the ultimate breeding grounds for trends that challenge traditional beauty norms.
Halo brows – a halo-like arch above your forehead that connects both eyebrows into one loop – were invented by Hannah Lyne, a 16-year-old British influencer whose new brows went viral almost immediately.
“So me and [a friend] were talking about the fishtail brow trend & then we came up with this,” Lyne wrote in the Instagram post introducing the design that left people excited and confused.
In an interview with Pop Sugar, the beauty blogger explained it wasn’t a joke and that the “look was influenced by fishtail brows.”
“I was talking to a friend and trying to come up with a new idea for a look, and suddenly it came to me that I should connect my brow tails,” she said.
Lyne further described her vision to Yahoo Style: “I just want people to embrace that they are goofy and do weird, creative looks!”
‘Ridiculous’ Craze
Like many trends originating on social media, halo brows elicited a mixed response.
Some Instagram users seemed to love the design and praised Lyne’s creativity: “I love it!” writes one user, while a second pens: “All your looks are so original…Honestly, your talent is endless!”
“How the heck do you even come up with your ideas? They’re so creative and you always execute them so well! You’re incredibly talented,” a third one shares.
However, the majority of netizens were quick to dismiss the updated unibrow as a “ridiculous” craze.
“Uncontrollably gagging,” writes a user in the comment section of Lyne’s Instagram post. “I can’t tell if she’s joking,” offers a second, while a third writes: “Instagram? Seems more like Instaregret.”
Meanwhile, others said she looks “ridiculous” and suggested they “delete Instagram because of this picture.”
Nevertheless, Cosmopolitan called the “heavenly halo eyebrows” “strangely beautiful.” “Introducing the unconventional but beautiful work of the arch,” the publication writes about the looped brows.
Even if you don’t agree with the look, it’s fun to see makeup artists finding different ways to style their eyebrows – whether they have one or two.
