K9’s are dogs that work in the police force and are great four-legged companions. They are not only invaluable to police departments, but they also make a huge impression on their colleagues and form a bond that can never be broken.
That’s what a video shows, as a police dog appears to be emotional after reuniting with his former owner for the first time in years.
The heartwarming video comes from Chinese social media, posted by a police station. According to Daily Star, Wangwang, an 8-year-old German Shepherd, worked at the department as a sniffer dog before retiring in June 2019.

Although Wangwang deserved a nice retirement and was well taken care of, it unfortunately meant being separated from her former owner.
She missed him very much.
But when the officer decided to pay her a surprise visit after a long time apart, she was overjoyed and ran straight to him.

The two old friends had a sweet reunion. The officer pets Wangwang, who appears to be in tears, overwhelmed with joy.

Even though they hadn’t seen each other in a while and had gone their separate ways, there was no love lost between this officer and dog.
“Wangwang’s hair is turning white, but she is well-fed, she’s even getting fat,” read the original video.
“It’s always hard to say goodbye to your buddy.”

Many K9s and other working dogs live with their owners after retirement, to spend their golden years with someone they already know and trust. But the Xichuan police say their officers don’t have time to care for retired dogs, so they are taken care of by a family.
It’s sad that these two had to part ways after forming such a strong bond, but judging by Wangwang’s expression, we are sure this wasn’t the last visit the officer paid to his old friend.
What a lovely video. It shows how strong a dog’s love can be, and how strong the bond between K9 police dogs and their partners can be, even after they have parted ways.
