Woman Wakes Up Next to 40kg Cuddly Giant, But It’s Not Her Dog!

Snuggling with your own dog in bed is delightful, but what if you wake up next to a dog that isn’t yours and you’re baffled about how it got there?

A woman from Tennessee (USA) experienced just that when she discovered a unfamiliar dog in bed with her.

Julie Thornton Johnson narrated the remarkable event and shared some pictures on Facebook.

“Waking up in our house with one of OUR dogs in bed is nothing out of the ordinary,” she mentioned. “But here’s the twist – this dog is NOT OURS, and we have no clue how she ended up in our home.”

On the morning of May 1st, Julie and her husband were surprised to find a 40-kilo pitbull Labrador mix snuggled between them in bed.

“We both stirred and saw a 40-kilo dog that didn’t belong to us,” Julie shared with McClatchy News.

Initially, they were startled as a dog doesn’t just wander into a stranger’s house and hop into bed, especially when they already have three dogs of their own who didn’t seem bothered.

However, they soon realized there was no cause for alarm.

“My husband shifted the covers slightly, and she snuggled up to him as if she belonged there,” Julie recalled.

Just under three kilometers away, Felecia Johnson (unrelated to Julie) had arrived at her parents’ house only to learn that her dog Nala had slipped away the night before.

While Felecia was pondering Nala’s whereabouts, Julie was on a mission to find the owner of the mysterious visitor.

“This has got to be the strangest post I’ve ever had to write,” Julie declared on Facebook. “Does this dog belong to anyone?”

Fortunately, it didn’t take long for Felecia to be directed to the peculiar Facebook post and reach out to Julie.

The two connected, and Felecia promptly drove to Julie’s place to retrieve her dog. However, there was a slight hitch.

Nala Refused to Leave

“When Felecia came to pick up Nala, the dog wouldn’t budge from the bed,” Julie mentioned.

“I was like, ‘Nala, what are you up to?’ and she just wagged her tail, almost saying, ‘Oops’,” Felecia remembered.

Both couples are planning a playdate for their dogs soon.

Regarding the unexpected viral story, Felecia expressed her joy in bringing a smile to people’s faces during challenging times.

“It’s amusing. In times like these, everyone could use a mental break from everything happening in the world,” she said.

Thankfully, Nala found a cozy spot to rest after her nighttime escapade. Quite the tale!
