From Survival to Thriving: Natasha’s Journey with her New Adoptive Family

When Natasha arrived at the animal shelter, her chances of survival looked bleak, The Mirror writes.

But when an animal lover came to adopt her, her life quickly turned for the better.

Real animal lovers do everything for their animals and make sure that their lives are as good as possible.

The best food, a safe home, and most importantly: a lot of love.

But unfortunately, not all of us experience what most of us consider as obvious things.

Little dog Natasha weighed just over 12 kilos when she arrived at an animal shelter. She met everyone with trembling and fearful eyes.

No one was looking for the dog

Although they were all there to help her, it understandably took her a while to trust people again.

She was found alone and abandoned.

Her skinny body was covered in parasites and lice. She needed help urgently.

Once at the LightShine Canine shelter, it was clear that no one had contacted the staff there to claim their dog back.

No one took responsibility for the poor girl after she had been so close to death.

Contacted animal lover for adoption

So the staff knew that the only thing they could do was find her a new, loving home.

And then they contacted Jessi Sova

“I sent a message to Natasha’s foster mom and made plans to meet them. The next morning, I was delighted. My son and I fell in love instantly. It was impossible not to,” she tells The Mirror.

“She moved so gently, but came to us. She gave kisses and she yelped if she moved wrong and did something painful”.

“Her fluffy fur seemed like a glowing halo around her face and she was so small”.

The caretakers who had looked after Natasha told Jessi that they had trouble determining her age.

She could be between nine months and two years old.

Her skinny body and size made it impossible to determine an age with 100 percent certainty.

Plus, she had lost a lot of fur.

“Her breed was unclear, it was assumed she was some kind of husky mix,” says Jessi.

Moreover, adopting an animal can be a risky challenge.

Gave Natasha a new name and home

Every dog has been through something, and you can’t say for sure how they will react when they come to a new family.

But Jessi wanted to take her chance with Natasha. She was sure it was her destiny, and that of her son, to care for the dog.

Once settled in her new home, Natasha got a new name: Mikita, and she is doing well.

Jessi, who already had a dog, Kane, quickly became a good friend to Mikita.

“She followed him everywhere and laid beside him when she wasn’t petted by a human”.

“I gave her a pet staircase so she could follow him onto the couch and beds, as she couldn’t jump up herself and being lifted hurt her, and so it went on”.

My kids had their first grooming appointments the other day… they feel, smell, and look AMAZING. Thank you, Furr Life…

Thanks to her new owner, Mikita began to get stronger.

She gained weight and her fur grew even more. The fleas and parasites that had previously taken over disappeared.

Enjoying life again

Jessi also contacted a veterinarian who treated Mikita’s severe back pain.

After a few massage sessions, Mikita can now frolic much more easily.

“After just a week, she was a different dog. It still hurts sometimes, but her energy improved. She was less timid with her movements and with playing”.

Mikita now weighs 23 kilos and loves her new life full of love.

What a touching story! We wish you all the best little friend. We are so happy that you found a new family!
