We all surely remember the old TV series Lassie, about a smart collie who always manages to save the day by warning people of danger. Lassie did that, for example, by getting help when Timmy got stuck in a well.
Although it sounds far-fetched, the show turns out not to be far from real life. We have already seen many stories of really quick-thinking dogs who have saved lives by seeking help in emergencies.
Not too long ago, for example, when a heroic German Shepherd led the police to the scene of a car accident and helped save his owner.
According to the New Hampshire State Police, Trooper Sandberg and officers from the Lebanon Police Department saw a German Shepherd loose on the highway on January 3rd.

They tried to capture the dog, but he ran away along the highway and crossed over into Vermont. The officers followed the dog and noticed that the dog wasn’t running away from them but trying to lead them somewhere.
They discovered a damaged guardrail, which led them to a heavily damaged, overturned van:
Two occupants of the vehicle were found on site, ejected from the vehicle. They were alive but “hypothermic and critically injured.”
It turned out that the German Shepherd named Tinsley was also in the vehicle at the time of the crash, and the smart dog went seeking help.
“It quickly became apparent that Tinsley led Trooper Sandberg and the Lebanon police to the crash site and the injured occupants,” New Hampshire State Police wrote on Facebook.
Fortunately, Tinsley was not injured in the accident. The officers called for medical help for the injured men.
One of the men was Cam Laundry, the owner of Tinsley. He was proud of his dog’s quick thinking and was not surprised that she took care of him in his hour of need.
“She’s my little guardian angel,” Cam told CBS Boston. “It’s a wonder how she has that intelligence to do what she did.”

“She never leaves my side,” he told WMUR. “So we’re always together in that wreck of a car. She’s always my co-pilot, she’s always with me.”
Tinsley continued to be there for her owner, even after saving his life: the “guardian angel” watched over him as he recovered from the incident.
“The entire time we started our patient care, she sat calmly there beside her owner,” said Captain Jack Hedges of the Hartford Fire Department.
Thank you Tinsley, for saving the day! We are so glad that everyone is alive and safe, thanks to this quick-thinking heroic dog.
