Life can sometimes be sad and lonely for dogs in shelters. Many dogs spend their days in kennels waiting for adoption. However, occasionally, these four-legged friends experience moments of pure joy. Even the smallest things can bring immense happiness to an animal that has very little.
Recently, a shelter dog had an unforgettable night after breaking free from his kennel in the middle of the night! With the shelter all to himself, he indulged in playing with every squeaky toy he could find.
One day, Joyce Ross arrived at the County Humane Society animal shelter in Pennsylvania, USA, to find Gilligan, one of their dogs, roaming freely after escaping from his kennel.
“I saw Gilligan running around excitedly, playing and jumping, and I thought, ‘Gill, how did you manage to get out?’” she shared with WTAJ.
It soon became apparent to Joyce that Gilligan had spent his night partying with his beloved toys!
The shelter’s rooms and hallways were filled with scattered dog toys. Joyce mentioned, “He did it in front of a sheltered audience to show them the fantastic dogs awaiting adoption in the shelter.”
While the staff will ensure better security in locking the kennels at night, Gilligan, thanks to his newfound fame, will not run out of toys anytime soon.
“We received a call from a lady who expressed her desire to gift Gilligan a toy every month for the rest of his life.”
