Pitbull Partner: Pakketbezorger Adopteert Harige Wingman na Trayl Overlijdt

We often see in cartoons and sketches how mail carriers are chased by dogs. In reality, delivery drivers build friendships with many animals they meet on their routes.

The UPS Dogs Facebook page shares heartwarming stories of drivers not only delivering packages but also goodies for these furry friends.

Driver Katie Newhouser adores all the dogs she encounters on her daily rounds, but one dog, in particular, captured her heart.

That special bond became crucial when this beloved dog found itself without a home.

Katie Newhouser has a deep affection for dogs, owning three of her own and enjoying the company of the dogs on her route.

But there was one dog, a pitbull named Leo, who held a special place in her heart.

“He would always start barking as I pulled into the condo complex. He would always jump into my truck when I stopped,” Katie wrote in a Facebook post.

Katie also became friends with Leo’s owner, Tina, who shared that Leo was found as a puppy and had to be bottle-fed.

Katie Faces Heartbreaking News

“They (Tina and Leo) were very close and did everything together,” Katie told PEOPLE. “I don’t think dogs ever forget someone they’ve been so close to.”

In July 2017, Katie received devastating news of Tina’s passing, leaving Leo without his beloved owner.

After recovering from the shock, Katie grew concerned about Leo’s future and decided to adopt him herself since Tina’s son couldn’t take Leo in due to his active military service, as reported by Animal Channel.

‘Inseparable Brothers: Leo and Moose’

Despite already having three dogs, Katie welcomed Leo into her home.

“It was probably confusing for him at first, but he’s adapted well,” Katie shared. “He and his brother Moose are inseparable. Bailey, his sister, took a while to get used to it, [but] they play for real now… once Leo was introduced to the house, the whole atmosphere changed.”

Katie shared this heartwarming news on the UPS Dogs Facebook page, receiving an outpouring of support for Leo’s new loving home.
