A heartless mother orchestrated a slow and terrible death of her own baby by starving the child. Baby Katya was accidentally discovered by a friend of the mother who heard noises from one of the rooms in the house.
The 37-year-old mother of the child, Yulia, had kept the birth of her third child a secret from the rest of the world. Baby Katya was the product of a love affair Yulia had with a married man, just after her breakup with her husband. Police revealed that Yulia did not even go to the hospital for medical assistance before or after Katya’s birth.
Anyone who visited Yulia’s apartment in Russia would never know that there was a small baby in the house. There were no toys lying around, nor were there any baby clothes. Yulia did not even have baby food. She kept her baby in a sports bag, and then placed it in a closet. This was reported by The Mirror.

“She wanted to kill the baby, but in the end, she couldn’t bring herself to do it,” a source said, according to The Sun. “She thought the baby would die of hunger. But the child was accidentally discovered.”
The only other person in the house who knew about the baby was Yulia’s 13-year-old son. The teenager secretly fed his sister food scraps to keep her alive. A family friend revealed that Yulia would threaten the boy if he told others about the baby. So he couldn’t do much except feed her.
Months went by and Katya lived in deplorable conditions until the day a birthday party was organized in Yulia’s apartment for her son’s 13th birthday. It was then that little Katya was accidentally found by one of Yulia’s friends.
“The mother was having a drink with a friend, who asked why one of the rooms in the house was always closed,” a source said. “A young woman present at the party heard crying and asked the mother what was going on. “It’s just a doll that cries on its own,” replied the mother. One of the friends who wanted to smoke a cigarette decided to check the room after hearing the crying. She opened the closet, looked in the bag, and found the baby.”
When later officers arrived at the scene, they went to Yulia’s apartment and searched the apartment for the malnourished child, who had survived for months on water and food scraps given to her by her older stepbrother.
Valery Gorelykh, a spokesperson for the regional police, testified:
“This horror story is hard to believe. But hard as it is to believe, it’s the truth.” This was reported by Daily Mail.
After Katya was found, the child was taken to the hospital by helicopter. Doctors in the intensive care unit discovered that the baby was severely malnourished.
The news spread quickly, and a family friend said that people who know Yulia would “never have thought she would ever do something like this”.
