Having a loyal pet can be a lifesaver in unexpected situations. Animals’ instincts can lead to quick actions in emergencies.
One such remarkable incident involved a resourceful cat that rescued its 83-year-old owner after she fell into a ravine.
On August 14, authorities in Bodmin, England, commenced a search for an elderly woman who had gone missing. Luckily, a breakthrough came swiftly, all thanks to an unexpected hero.
A local resident heard a cat meowing persistently from a corner of a vast cornfield.
Upon investigation, it was discovered that the cat, named Piran, belonged to the missing woman, prompting the neighbor to signal concern about her location.
Subsequently, it was revealed that the 83-year-old woman had fallen into a deep ravine near her residence.
According to a report by Bodmin police, “The elderly woman had fallen about 20 meters down a very steep slope, with incredibly difficult access and uneven terrain.”
Upon locating the missing woman, emergency services, including the Bodmin police, firefighters, and Cornwall doctors, promptly coordinated to extract her from the ravine.
Following the rescue, the Cornwall Air Ambulance airlifted her to the hospital. Fortunately, she is reported to be in stable condition and, as per the latest update, “in good spirits” receiving necessary care.
“Massive ‘well done’ to all the emergency services that worked together and to Piran,” commended an unidentified neighbor in a statement to BBC. “The outcome could have been much worse.”
Although the actual rescue was carried out by the emergency teams, Piran rightly deserves recognition for saving her owner’s life. Given the challenging circumstances and the woman’s secluded location, the situation could have taken a tragic turn.
The feline hero was rightfully hailed, with the Bodmin police acknowledging, “Piran the cat is the hero of the day!” on Facebook.
Kudos to Piran for his outstanding bravery in rescuing his owner. What an intelligent cat!
