An elderly man is in an induced coma, battling for his life following a brutal attack last Sunday.
Emilio Lombardo, an 84-year-old man, sustained severe head and facial injuries when he was discovered in Perth, Australia.
Reports indicate that the assault took place around 7 pm after Emilio ventured out of his home to investigate a suspicious noise he had heard. Multiple sources have confirmed this.
“Emilio Lombardi (84), a resident of East Cannington, is in critical condition post-attack,” stated the local newspaper Global News.
According to 7News, two men aged between 25 and 30 brutally attacked Emilio, also vandalizing the mirror of his vehicle.
Following the assault, Western Australia police released images showing the bloodied 84-year-old man with a significant head wound.
Police inspector Alexandra Hill described the perpetrators’ actions as a “cowardly, horrific, and unprovoked attack.”
“This is an 84-year-old individual who has resided in this neighborhood for four decades. He was viciously assaulted in his own front yard, sustaining serious facial injuries,” Hill conveyed to Perth Now.
“The gentleman was discovered by the authorities before being rushed to the Royal Perth Hospital’s intensive care unit, where he remains in critical condition.”

Sergeant Hill issued a statement on Facebook, along with footage of Emilio post-attack.
“The elderly individual went out to his front yard at around 7 pm to investigate a strange noise and was subsequently assaulted,” detailed the police department.
“Law enforcement officers discovered him with severe head and facial injuries outside his residence, following which he was admitted to the intensive care unit at Royal Perth Hospital.”
Authorities are urging anyone who may have been in the vicinity during the assault to come forward and aid in the investigation.
