Street Cat to Mountain Lion: Woman Adopts ‘Kitten’ and Discovers Wild Surprise

A woman and her brother found a dead cat by the road with two helpless kittens beside it. The woman decided to take care of them.

Two months later, when she took them to the vet for a routine check-up, she realized she had made a big mistake.

It has been two years since Florencia Lobo, from Tucumán in Argentina, found the two kittens beside their dead mother.

We thought it was an abandoned cat that had given birth, she told Reuters, according to People.

Florencia immediately decided to take the kittens, a male and a female, home. Unfortunately, the female did not survive, but the male kitten grew stronger by the day. She named him Tito.

Two months later, Florencia took Tito to the vet for a routine check-up. That’s when she received news she didn’t expect.

“The vet didn’t know what it was, but said it wasn’t a normal cat,” Florencia testified, who instead received a number for a nature reserve from the vet.

It turned out that Tito was not a kitten at all. Tito was a jaguarundi. It is a small puma that lives in the wild.

In defense of Florencia, these animals only grow slightly larger than a cat. Perhaps that’s why she confused them.

With this news, Florencia now had to do the right thing. That meant she had to transfer her new friend to the nature reserve. After that, it was hoped that Tito could be rehabilitated to live in the wild.

What a kind act of Florencia to adopt the little “kitten,” even though it turned out to be something completely different.
