It’s hard to believe that someone can abandon their dog. Sadly, many heartless owners dump their pets without a second thought, without any remorse.
Thankfully, there are compassionate people out there willing to provide these neglected dogs with the love and care they deserve. These dogs often get a chance at a fresh start and go on to achieve amazing things.
A dog that was recently discovered tied to a pole has turned into a true star, even landing a role in a television series.
On November 29, an animal rescue team in Roanoke, Virginia found an abandoned dog tied to a pole, in a dire state.
The rescue team took the dog to the local organization “Angels of Assisi,” where they described her as “extremely malnourished” and diagnosed with Lyme disease affecting her kidneys.
Angels of Assisi posted on Facebook, “We can’t understand how someone could abandon her, especially in such a terrible condition, but we’re committed to helping her heal. She’s in critical condition but making progress.”
The shelter named the dog Luna and immediately began administering IV fluids to save her life.
There was hope for Luna as she showed a “spark of hope in her eyes” in an update.
Over time, Luna’s condition improved steadily, allowing her to discontinue IV fluids and be described as “getting stronger each day.”
Currently, Luna is still undergoing treatment for Lyme disease, with veterinarians focused on helping her gain weight and strength. She will also undergo surgery to remove a lump from her thigh once she is healthier.
In the meantime, Luna is enjoying a shower of gifts and visitors, and she will soon be moving to a foster home for further recovery in a caring environment.
According to WFXR, Luna’s owner was located by the police, charged with animal abuse, and subsequently relinquished ownership of the dog.
Authorities are investigating Luna’s abandonment and poor health, but the most important thing is that Luna is now in caring hands. Surrounded by love, Luna not only has a chance to shine but has also been cast in a special role for a beloved Christmas tradition.
This weekend, Luna will make her stage debut in the Southwest Virginia Ballet’s production of “The Nutcracker!”
Luna will grace the stage this Saturday and Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the Berglund Center in Roanoke, United States.
Excitement is high for Luna’s upcoming performance. The shelter informed WFXR that Luna is “doing great” on stage and adores the extra attention.
Luna has overcome immense challenges, and it’s heartwarming to see her on the road to recovery and finally living her best life.
Break a leg, Luna!
