Royal Insights: Prince William’s Response to Kate Middleton Conspiracy Theories

In a recent interview with 60 Minutes Australia, former royal adviser Jason Knauf discussed the British royal family, shedding light on the disturbing conspiracy theories that circulated online when Kate Middleton temporarily retreated from the public eye due to surgery and before disclosing her cancer diagnosis.

‘Absolutely awful’

‘It was awful, absolutely awful. It’s the lowest I’ve ever seen him [Prince William, ed.]’, Jason expressed. ‘Within weeks, you find out both your wife and your dad have cancer. I couldn’t believe it.’

Jason elaborated on how these conspiracy theories deeply affected the royal couple, especially as they had not informed their children about Kate’s diagnosis yet. He stated, ‘The problem was all those crazy conspiracy theories started surfacing online: “Is she really sick?” They hesitated to disclose her cancer battle as they were still contemplating how to break the news to their children.’

‘The hardest year of my life’

Reflecting on the challenges, William shared, ‘It has been awful. It’s probably been the hardest year of my life. So it’s been really tough trying to keep everything going and keep everything on the rails.’

Fortunately, Kate is now in remission, as announced in January: ‘It’s a relief to now be in remission and I continue to focus on recovery. As anyone who has had a cancer diagnosis knows, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. However, I am looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you everyone for your continued support.’
